Honoring Our Ancestors through our Music.

Project Misik: A Malden RiverYard is a day of interactive workshops and performance, featuring BIPOC folkx & stories, & connecting us, by the riverside.

Led by Kera Washington of all-female multi-ethnic band, Zili Misik, this Yard is a a partnership with the Malden River Works, and brings together Haitian master drummer & choreographer Peniel Guerrier, steel pannist Carl Smith, Afro-Brazilian Mestra/Choreographer Isaura Oliveira, & Afrobeats DJ Lady Ly, & poet Letta Neely.

Haitian Food will be provided by Malden’s own Island Restaurant!

In this day of interactive workshops & performance, we intend to reclaim public space on the riverfront & build common knowledge, community and respect among us, particularly for marginalized people of African descent.
